MASSIMO CARRARO Joint owner and Managing Director of the Gruppo Morellato. 46 years of age, married, three children aged 15, 12 and 1 year and a half, I live in Padua. My wife manages her own engineering company since a long time and our businesses are unrelated. After graduating at the School of Law, I attended a PhD course at the Università Statale in Milan, lectured as a Professor of Comparative Public Law and worked as a Lawyer. From 1986 on, I took on the management of the Morellato Group, where I am Managing Director and co-owner. I have since long been committed in institutions and associations. I was the President of the Young Entrepreneurs Association in Padua and then of the Veneto region Entrepreneurs Association; the President for the Italian North-eastern regions for I.D.E. (European Entrepreneurs and Managers), the President of the regional holding company Veneto Sviluppo and the Società promotrice della Borsa for Sees in the North-East of Italy; I was the President of Interporto S.p.A, which I turned into the most important logistics platform for container transport in Italy. From 1999 to 2004 I was a Member of the European Parliament where I was involved in the proceedings of the Commission for Industry, Foreign Trade, Research and Energy, elected as independent member in the lists of the Democratici di Sinistra left-wing party I was a candidate for the center-left coalition at the regional elections in April 2005 and am the spokesperson for the Ulivo party at the Veneto Regional Parliament. Mia moglie è una imprenditrice del settore metalmeccanico e gestisce da anni un'azienda del tutto indipendente dalle mie attività. Dopo la laurea in Giurisprudenza, ho frequentato un Dottorato di Ricerca presso l'Università statale di Milano; sono stato Professore universitario di Diritto pubblico comparato e Avvocato. Dal 1986, mi sono dedicato all'attività imprenditoriale nell'ambito del Gruppo Morellato, di cui sono contitolare e amministratore delegato. Sono da parecchi anni impegnato anche sul piano associativo e delle istituzioni. Sono stato Presidente dei Giovani imprenditori prima di Padova e poi del Veneto; Presidente Triveneto dell'I.D.E. (Imprenditori e Dirigenti d'Europa), Presidente della Finanziaria regionale Veneto Sviluppo e della Società promotrice della Borsa per le piccole-medie imprese del Triveneto; Presidente di Interporto di Padova S.p.A., che sotto la mia gestione è diventato la più importante piattaforma logistica per container d'Italia. Dal 1999 al 2004 sono stato membro del Parlamento Europeo, nell'ambito del quale sono stato componente della Commissione Industria, Commercio Estero, Ricerca ed Energia, eletto come indipendente nelle liste dei democratici di Sinistra. Sono stato il Candidato del centro sinistra alle Elezioni Regionali dell'Aprile 2005 e attualmente sono il portavoce dell'Ulivo al Consiglio Regionale Veneto.
